Gobblers Knob

Elevation, slope angles and aspects

6200-10400', angles over 35°, north and west facing.

Snow conditions

Recent snow settled to about 3" at upper elevations. Snow above about 10k could be considered dry? Dense and creamy, turning to refrigerated corn meal mush and smush below about 8500'. Carvable to the Porter road. No crust. Foot penetration at lower elevations was about 12". Has not gone isothermal.

Weather

Overcast to pea soup. No wind and mild temperatures. A few flakes up high with a rain line at around 8k. Raining quite hard in the afternoon at that elevation.

Evaluation

Stable snow. A few clinkers were noted at mid and lower elevations from yesterdays warm up. Future instability would be dependent on snow amounts, if any, bonding and daytime heating.
